The Black Turtle

The Black Turtle art by Jonathan Hannah

The Black Turtle is one of four connected pieces based on Chinese mythological creatures that manifest in the Chinese constellations and that are viewed as the Auspicious Beasts of the four cardinal directions. These four pieces are currently being finished, mixed and mastered. Anticipated release date: late 2022.  These pieces include artwork that is also created by the composer.

Tenebrous Geomancy of Diophantine

Tenebrous Geomancy art by Jonathan HannahTenebrous Geomancy of Diophantine (excerpt from). This piece was created on a pair OF ?Yamaha TG-33 synthesizers. These rare little synths are from the 1990’s, which makes them 30 years old this year, so it’s was good time to compose for them. The  Tenebrous Geomancy of Diophantine uses only this 12-bit digital synthesizer as it’s sound source. Its 256 FM vector voices, along with its AWM, 32 note polyphony and joystick sound controller made this project a joy to create. The piece uses various number sequences (prime, Fibonacci, harmonic, geometric) for it creation. Anticipated release date: 2020,  however, delayed due to Covid-19. These pieces include artwork that is also created by the composer.

Sea of Souls

Sea of Souls art by Jonathan HannahSea of Souls is one of six pieces from the album “92.” All the pieces, except for the Tenebrous Geomancy of Diophantine, were composed in 1992 in NYC. I restored these pieces from a badly damaged RDAT tape and then remastered them for this album. My second TG33 was also obtained at this time so I thought it appropriate top add its voice to the album. These pieces include artwork that is also created by the composer.

All art on this page is created by the composer and is © 2022 Jonathan Hannah
